Security forces arrest seven individuals in Moscow on July 28 for allegedly organizing attacks

Russian security forces (RSB) arrested seven national citizens from Central Asia on Friday morning, July 28, in Moscow for allegedly masterminding attacks in trains and crowded areas in Saint Petersburg.
Russia has heightened security measures across the country since a terrorist attack was carried out in Saint Petersburg in April, leaving 16 dead and dozens injured. The attacker, a 22 year old from Kyrgyzstan, was also killed in the attack and is said to have belonged to a faction of Al-Qa’ida.
Context
Since the start of its military intervention in Syria, Russia – a strong ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad – has been under increasing threat from Islamic State (IS) terrorist attacks and by the Syrian faction of Al-Qa’ida.
