Informational

Event

Unionized university educators plan to protest at Jalandhar's Desh Bhagat Memorial Hall on May 5 to denounce the implementation of a centralized admission portal by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led state government. Participants in private and some public colleges will also boycott invigilation/examination duties on the day. Organizers have yet to announce the start time of the action. A few hundred teachers could participate in the action.

Authorities will likely deploy additional security in the vicinity of the rally site. Localized transport disruptions are possible due to increased security measures and the presence of large numbers of people. Education service disruptions are possible if the strike is well-attended. Minor skirmishes cannot be ruled out as police may attempt to disperse especially disruptive gatherings.

Jalandhar is around 45 km (28 miles) northwest of Ludhiana.
