A freight train derailed at the Ullapara Railway Station in Sirajganj District, Rajshahi Division, around 14:00 May 5. The accident did not result in casualties. However, rail services passing through the affected area are suspended. Rail traffic between Dhaka and the northern, southern, and western parts of the country are especially affected.

Rail service disruptions are likely in the impact area over the coming hours. Demand for alternative transport and congestion on alternative routes is likely. As clearance works and investigations continue, ground transport delays may occur near Ullapara Railway Station.

The incident site is approximately 99 km (61.5 miles) northwest of Dhaka city.
