Members of drug-trafficking organizations (DTOs) have built roadblocks in several areas of Tamaulipas state April 30. Reports also indicate a large number of trucks with DTO members have been driving around the towns of San Fernando, Reynosa, and Matamoros. Authorities have increased their presence in the affected locations; however, there have as yet been no reports of clashes or other acts of violence. It remains unclear how long the situation may continue.

Transport and business disruptions are likely through at least late April 30. Clashes between DTO members and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Advice

Strictly heed the instructions of authorities. If you encounter a roadblock, leave the area immediately and look for alternative routes. Confirm business appointments if operating in Reynosa or Matamoros through at least May 1.
