Further protests and associated violence are possible following clashes in the vicinity of the Lekki Free Trade Zone, in Ijebu-Lekki, Lagos State, April 27. The cause of the violence is currently unknown, but local residents reportedly blocked roads in the area, affecting operations at the nearby Dangote refinery. Unconfirmed reports suggest the violence occurred in the early hours during protests against lockdown restrictions to combat the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19); an increased security presence remains in the area.
