Summary
Workers affiliated with the Association of Distribution Workers (ATR) and other home delivery transporters plan to strike and protest in Buenos Aires May 8. The action is to demand a 100 percent salary increase and additional protections in the workplace against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Workers of Glovo, Rappi, Pedidos Ya, and Uber are among those that intend to join the action. The strike will be observed between 1000-1600. For the protest, participants plan to gather at the Obelisk at 1100, and from 1230 march to the Ministry of Labor on Avenida Callao. Protesters are likely to proceed with the march using their delivery vehicles and bicycles. It is unclear how many people will participate in the protest; however, strike adherence is likely to be high.

Police will almost certainly deploy to monitor the protest, especially given that a mandatory quarantine is being strictly enforced in major cities until May 10. Low-level security disturbances are possible if police attempt to disperse the gathering or if social distancing protocols between demonstrators are not observed. Localized traffic disruptions are likely along the march route. The strike is likely to mainly disrupt personal home delivery services throughout the day.

Advice
Avoid the protest and follow all official instructions. Plan for localized traffic disruptions in downtown Buenos Aires during the protest. Confirm home delivery services scheduled for May 8.
