Summary
Workers from the meat industry plan to march from Plaza Adolfo Alsina in Avellaneda, to Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires, from 1030 April 22. The action is to protest around 240 layoffs at a meat facility near Quilmes. A few hundred workers and their supporters are likely to attend the march in spite of a nationwide quarantine, which is in effect through April 26 as part of the government's efforts to stem the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Police will almost certainly deploy to disperse the demonstration, especially given the extraordinary COVID-19 movement restrictions enforced throughout the country. Violence is possible; police may use teargas and rubber bullets to disperse the workers. During a related demonstration April 10, around 20 people were injured when police dispersed a protest outside the meat facility. Localized transport disruptions are highly likely near any gathering.

Advice
Avoid the protest. Follow all official instructions. Plan for potential localized traffic disruptions between Avellaneda and Buenos Aires April 22.
