Members and supporters of the organization ReOpen Maryland plan to hold a protest in downtown Annapolis, Md., April 18. Activists are demanding that regional authorities lift some of the business restrictions in the state, which are currently in place to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Demonstrators intend to remain inside their vehicles and drive through downtown Annapolis to protest. It is likely that they will gather outside the Maryland State House. Hundreds are likely to participate in the demonstration.
Transport and business disruptions are likely in the area. While widespread clashes are unlikely, skirmishes are possible. Similar protests have taken place in recent days elsewhere in the US without major incidents.
