Banks across Lebanon will close March 14 in order to perform precautionary sanitization at branches as part of an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). According to a statement released by the Lebanese Association of Banks, the temporary closure is also intended as a protest against the government's alleged negligence and failure to take precautionary measures against the virus. As of March 13, Lebanese authorities have confirmed at least 77 cases of the disease.
It is unclear whether the closure and sanitization operations will have any impact on ATM transactions.
Consider withdrawing sufficient cash in advance of the sanitization work as a precaution against potential ATM service disruptions during the closure.
