- Event: Cathay Dragon cabin crew strike
- Location(s): Hong Kong (map)
- Time Frame: Indefinite
- Impact: Flight disruptions
Cathay Dragon (KA) cabin crew members have threatened to strike on flights with mainland China through Feb. 8. Crew members are demanding KA suspend flights to mainland China due to concerns over the spread of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Details of the strike action remain unclear, though some reports indicate the labor action will begin Feb. 3.
The work stoppage is likely to cause delays and cancellations for KA flights at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), as well as destinations in mainland China. Cathay Dragon has canceled several flights to Haikou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Sanya, and Wenzhou, through Feb. 3 over health concerns. KA officials may preemptively cancel more routes with mainland China in response to the strike.
Confirm bookings on Cathay Dragon to and from mainland China. Make alternative travel arrangements as quickly as possible, as flights operated by other airlines on parallel routes may be overbooked.
