Pro-cannabis activists have organized multiple demonstrations in downtown Mexico City May 4. Demonstration participants were scheduled to begin marching from the Palace of Fine Arts and the Francisco Primo de Verdad y Ramos Park toward the Angel of Independence and the Monument to the Revolution, respectively, at around 16:20. Officials estimated that thousands of people were likely to participate in the demonstrations.

Authorities will probably deploy a heightened security presence to affected parts of downtown Mexico City to monitor the demonstrations. Transport disruptions will likely affect areas near the marches; road closures are possible. Clashes between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out.
