Spain: Unionized teachers to demonstrate in Andalusia April 17

Unionized teachers to protest in several cities across Andalusia, Spain, from 12:00 April 17. Heightened security likely.

Informational

Unionized educators plan to protest in several cities across Andalusia from 12:00 April 17. The purpose of the demonstrations is to demand the reopening of negotiations to increase staffing. It is unclear how many participants will attend. Organizers are also planning related gatherings on April 24 and a strike on May 14. Protesters will gather at provincial education departments buildings in the following locations:

  • Almeria: Puerto de la Caridad

  • Cadiz: Calle Antonio Lopez

  • Cordoba: Calle Tomas de Aquino

  • Granada: Gran Via de Colon

  • Huelva: Calle los Mozarabes

  • Malaga: Avenida de la Aurora

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near all protest sites. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.

Avoid all protest sites as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near any of the planned demonstration locations. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
