Authorities plan to conduct a WWII bomb disposal operation in Mainz on April 26 after discovering a 500 kg (1,102 lbs) unexploded ordinance at a university expansion site on April 24. Authorities estimate a 500-1,000 meter (1,640- 3280 foot) evacuation radius will be established around the operation site, and several commercial areas, including Am Sagewerk and Kisselberg, will be impacted, along with several roadways and university campuses. Additionally, officials will close multiple roadways, including the Saarstrasse and Koblenzer Strasse, which will affect tram and bus services. The Gonsenheim/Waggonfabrik railway line will also be impacted.

Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely during the operation and may linger for several hours after the operation ends.
