Authorities plan to defuse a WWII-era bomb on Lurriper Street in Monchengladbach on April 18. Officials are enforcing a 500-meter (546-yard) evacuation area that will impact up to 3,700 residents and require extensive road closures; the central train station will also remain closed during the defusal. Authorities have not yet issued a time for the beginning of the operations.

The evacuation order, heightened security, and transport disruptions will continue until authorities give the all-clear.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Reconfirm travel on the Karlsruhe-Basel railway line. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities.
