Informational

Unionized doctors from the Dominican Medical College (Colegio Medico Dominicano) will protest in front of the Supreme Court in Santo Domingo on April 18. The purpose of the action is to denounce a recent spate of fines and penalties levied against doctors and medical facilities. Participants will gather from 09:00. While it remains unclear how many participants the protest may draw, a large crowd is possible.

Although the action should be largely peaceful, authorities will likely maintain a heightened security presence near the demonstration as a precaution. Nevertheless, clashes between security forces and protesters cannot be ruled out completely. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely.

Avoid the protest. Plan for extra travel time near the affected area. Leave the area at the first sign of security disturbances. Heed the instructions of authorities.
