As of Jan. 18, authorities in Nauru have issued warnings due to rough seas forecast in the region over the coming days. The Department of National Emergency Services has warned of swells over 3 meters (10 feet) off the coast of Nauru from Jan. 20 and has issued a warning advising the public to refrain from beach and sea activities in Anetan, Denigomodu, and Menen districts from Jan. 20 until further notice.

Rough seas may impact freight and maritime traffic to and from Nauru over the coming days. Authorities may temporarily suspend port operations due to adverse conditions. Coastal flooding and associated disruptions to overland transport are also possible in affected areas.
