Authorities have announced the suspension of industrial water supply and potential water outages within households in central and southern parts of Okinawa Prefecture through at least the evening of Jan. 19. Affected cities and towns include Itoman, Naha, Nanjo, Nishihara, Tomigusuku, Urasoe, Haebaru, Yaese, and Yonabaru. The outage is due to repair works on a leaking water pipe in Konbu, Uruma City.

Business disruptions are likely, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water.
