Italy: Unionized transport personnel strike across Piedmont Jan. 5

Unionized transport workers staging work stoppage across Piedmont, Italy, through evening Jan. 5. Transport disruptions likely.

Warning

Unionized transport workers affiliated with several unions are conducting a strike across Piedmont Jan. 5. The purpose of the strike is to demand improved working conditions in the wake of the Jan. 3 death of a bus driver. Participants are conducting a work stoppage across the entire region until 19:00. Additionally, workers in Turin will stop work between 18:00-22:00.

Bus, train, tram, and metro disruptions are likely in the affected areas during the strike hours and may linger for several hours after the stoppages end. Picket protests are possible, and heightened security is likely at any that take place.

Reconfirm public transport plans in Piedmont and Turin. Allow additional time if traveling by public transport on the evening of Jan. 5. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
