Scheduled electricity disruptions to occur in Bengaluru, India, through Jan. 19 due to maintenance works. Commercial disruptions possible.
Utility provider Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has announced that power outages will take place in Bengaluru through Jan. 19 due to maintenance works. Authorities have indicated that the disruptions will probably occur daily between 10:00-17:00. Several areas will be affected on different dates, including residential and commercial districts.
Transport disruptions are likely in areas with malfunctioning traffic signals. Disruptions to business and telecommunications, including cellular and mobile services, may occur. Power outages could result in the temporary unavailability of essential services, such as ATMs and gas stations. Blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during electricity outages.
Charge all communication and portable electronic devices when possible. Unplug electronic equipment that is not connected to surge protectors. Exercise caution when driving in areas affected by power outages. Confirm business appointments. Verify that security systems are operational, including after power is restored. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
