Switzerland: Police investigating fatal shooting incident in Sion Dec. 11

Police are responding to a shooting incident in Sion, Valais Canton, Dec. 11. The suspect reportedly fired shots in two different locations in the town, killing two people and wounding one more, before fleeing. The suspect remains at large. Police spokespersons said the suspect knew the victims; the motive for the shooting is unknown, but could be related to a dispute. Sion is located 64 km (40 miles) southeast of Lausanne.

Heightened security is likely in Sion through at least the end of Dec. 11 or until police apprehend the suspect. Localized disruptions are possible due to the police response.
