Rail disruptions are affecting the Tokaido Shinkansen line in Aichi and Shizuoka prefectures as of the afternoon of Oct. 23. Disruptions started around 10:45 Oct. 23 due to a fire along the line between Mikawa-Anjo and Nagoya stations. Authorities have suspended rail services between Shizuoka and Gifu Hashima stations. Delays are also affecting rail services between Tokyo and Shizuoka, Gifu-Hashima and Shin-Osaka, and the Sanyo Shinkansen from Hiroshima and Tokyo; cancellations are possible. Officials have not provided a timeline for when normal services will resume, but delays could continue for several hours.

Train disruptions will likely continue until firefighting operations and any associated investigation and repair works conclude.
