Lingering transport disruptions are likely in Santo Domingo following a crash involving two Santo Domingo Metro system trains Sept. 16. The collision reportedly occurred between the Mama Tingo and Gregorio Luperon stations in the Villa Mella area. Authorities have deployed to the scene of the crash and temporarily closed the abovementioned stations as well as the Dr. Jose Francisco Pena Gomez and Gregorio Urbano Gilbert stations as a part of their response. Officials have evacuated passengers from the trains involved in the collision and did not immediately report any casualties in connection with the incident.

The crash and associated emergency response have caused a significant traffic jam in the affected area. Disruptions to metro train service and road traffic will almost certainly continue in the area until the emergency response concludes and authorities vacate the scene.
