Informational

Event

Activists plan to hold a car rally from the Mo Chit Station to Bhumjathai and Pheu Thai party headquarters in Bangkok, 14:00 Aug. 13. Protesters intend to denounce Pheu Thai Party's plans to form a government with the support of Bhumjathai and other parties linked to earlier military coups. Critics say the move reneges on the party's poll promises and undermines its ally - the Move Forward Party - which failed to form a government despite winning the general election in May.

Transport disruptions are likely until the action ends. Participants will move via Ladprao intersection, Ratchayothin, and Kasetsart University intersections to reach Bhumjaithai headquarters. They will then pass Bhumjaithai-Royal Forestry Department, Ratchayothin intersection, Ratchadapisek road, Asoke intersection, and Phetchaburi road to reach the Pheu Thai Party headquarters.

Authorities will increase security measures along the procession route Aug. 13. While the protest will likely pass off peacefully, skirmishes between activists and security personnel may occur.

Advice

Exercise caution along the rally route and gathering sites Aug. 13 as a precaution. Plan for localized transport disruptions and travel delays. Seek alternative routes to avoid the procession. Heed all official security and transport advisories.
