US: Severe weather prompts flight disruptions from Washington, DC, area to Boston, Mass., July 7

Lingering flight delays and cancellations are likely at airports in the Northeast Megalopolis region of the US, extending from the Washington, DC, area to the Boston, Massachusetts, area, through at least late July 7 due to severe weather. Thunderstorms have prompted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue ground stops and ground delay programs for several airports in the region, including Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), and the New York metropolitan area's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). The air traffic control measures could be extended or rescinded on short notice.

The FAA may issue additional weather-related ground delay programs and/or ground stops for airports in the region over the coming hours.
