Warning

Event

Transport workers have built roadblocks and launched protests in several locations of Zipaquira, Cundinamarca Department, early July 19, to oppose what they allege are excessive fines from authorities. Demonstrators are blocking Highway 45A, which connects Zipaquira with Bogota. The protests are also blocking traffic going into the towns of Uraba and Cajica.

Significant transport disruptions are likely for the coming hours, even after the protests end. Heightened security in the protest area is likely, and clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out.

Advice

Avoid all protests. Do not attempt to cross a roadblock; look for alternative routes, and allow additional time to reach your destination if operating through Zipaquira through July 19. If clashes occur, leave the area immediately. Heed instructions from authorities.
