Authorities in Mons are implementing heightened security measures near Mons Station starting July 31. The purpose of the action is to clamp down on crime following a spate of violent incidents since July 13. Police are authorized to carry out surveillance, and to search vehicles and persons. Additionally, gatherings of more than five people are banned. The increased security measures will be in place until Sept. 30, at which point they will be reviewed.
