Authorities are responding to the discovery of at least two WWII bombs in Bochum, June 15. The site on Heinrich-Gustav-Strasse in Werne was the location of a bomb factory until 1945. Local authorities have confirmed that at least 2,400 people will be evacuated. It is not known when the defusing operation will end.

Authorities will almost certainly maintain an increased security presence in the area for at least several hours after the operation has been completed. The security perimeter and associated road closures will prompt localized disruptions to business and transport.
