India: Go First extends suspension of all operations until at least May 9 amid operational concerns /update 1

Go First in India extends suspension of all operations until May 9 amid operational concerns. Additional extensions likely.

Warning

Event

Air carrier Go First (G8) extended a temporary suspension of flight operations until at least May 9 after filing for voluntary insolvency May 2. The carrier had initially suspended services May 3-5; additional extensions are likely. Impacted passengers are encouraged to refer to the carrier's website for updates. The airline announced full refunds will be issued to affected passengers using the original form of payment.

Heightened demand for available alternative flights is likely in the coming days, especially if the suspension is prolonged.

Context

More than half of the carrier's Airbus A320 fleet has been grounded for several months amid reports of supply chain issues with the airplane's Pratt & Whitney engines. Earlier this year, India's Civil Aviation Authority, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), announced engaging in talks with the manufacturer to find a solution, which is also impacting IndiGo (6E).

Advice

Confirm Go First flights. Consider booking alternative travel arrangements if necessary. Do not check out of accommodation before confirming onward travel.
