Informational

Event

The High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel has called for a one-day nationwide strike in predominantly Israeli-Arab cities and towns on April 2. The action has been called to denounce the death of a Palestinian during clashes with Israeli security personnel near Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem overnight on March 31/April 1. The committee has also called for a large turnout at the funeral of the deceased in Hura. Associated gatherings are also likely in other Israeli-Arab towns nationwide, particularly in southern and northern Israel. Possible gathering areas include Umm El Fahm and Nazareth.

Security personnel will likely deploy to protest sites. Clashes are possible if protesters are overly disruptive, march along major road routes, or engage in acts of violence. Associated business and travel disruptions are also likely through April 2 in impacted communities.

Advice

Avoid all protests. Heed the instructions of security personnel. Monitor developments with trusted contacts.
