US: Tornado watch in effect for parts of Ark., La., Miss., and Texas until at least 04:00 CDT April 1

The US National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tornado watch for parts of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas until at least 04:00 CDT April 1. Damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, heavy rain, and flash flooding are possible in the region, regardless of whether tornadoes reach the ground. Authorities could extend or expand the weather advisory at short notice.

Localized transport and utility disruptions are possible in areas under the tornado watch; strong straight-line winds may pose a hazard to high-profile vehicles. Driving conditions may be difficult on rural routes and regional highways.
