Security operation ends following attack in Mogadishu's Abdiazi District, Somalia, Feb. 21.

Security operations at a government facility in Mogadishu's Abdiazi District have reportedly ended during the early evening of Feb. 21 following an attack by Al-Shabaab militants. At least one explosion was reported during the militants' initial attack on the location; the ensuing battle continued for about six hours. According to government reports, at least 10 persons were killed and three injured in the fighting; casualty figures could rise in the coming hours. Security forces reportedly killed all the attackers. Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Residual disruptions are likely in the area through at least Feb. 22 as authorities maintain heavy security at the scene of the attack.
