Disruptions are likely in the Watamu tourist area in Kilifi County due to an emergency response to a fire at the Barracuda Inn hotel Feb. 22. Preliminary reports indicate that the hotel is almost completely destroyed with the fire spreading to nearby areas, including the Mapango restaurant located in the neighboring Lily Palm Resort. No casualties have been reported. The cause of the fire remains unclear. Police have been deployed to the area.

Localized business and transport disruptions will probably continue as firefighters bring the blaze under control, extinguish any remaining hot spots and conduct investigations.
