The Sea Festival and World Clean Beach Club General Assembly will take place in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk Province, Dec. 9-14. Authorities expect tens of thousands of people to attend the festival, which will include sports, trade, and art events. Around 1,300 delegates from 25 countries will also participate in related activities.

Authorities will likely increase security and implement commercial restrictions ahead of the festival. Security cordons and roadblocks are likely near main festival sites, especially near Techo Square, and will probably result in localized transport and business disruptions. While demonstrations against the central government are unlikely, small gatherings cannot be ruled out; mass arrests could occur.
