Protests denouncing the Oct. 1 Kanjuruhan Stadium stampede are possible in Malang Regency, East Java, through late November. Residents and supporters of the local football club, Arema FC, have held protests in recent days demanding an open and indiscriminate investigation into the incident, which killed at least 135 people. Most recently, hundreds of protesters gathered at various locations in Malang City, including Gajayana Stadium, Malang City Square, and Malang City Hall Nov. 10 to commemorate the 40-day anniversary of the incident. Additional protests may occur at government buildings, such as the city hall, as well as at public squares and city stadiums, such as Kanjuruhan and Gajayana stadiums. Dozens to hundreds of people may participate in gatherings.

Authorities will likely monitor protests and may try to disperse gatherings if they are especially disruptive. Clashes between protesters and police are possible. Protesters may march along or block roadways, causing localized transport disruptions.
