Ghana: Anti-government protest scheduled in Accra Nov. 15-17

Anti-government activists affiliated with Arise Ghana are planning to protest in Accra Nov. 15-17 to denounce perceived poor governance and demand the resignation of Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo. The exact timing and location of the gathering are unclear. While participants reportedly intended to picket Nov. 15-17 at the Revolution Square, police forces have asked organizers to gather at the Independence Square from 12:00-16:00 only. The event may draw hundreds of participants.

Heightened security and traffic disruptions are likely around the protest site. Clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out, notably if participants gather at Revolution Square. Counterdemonstrators may also assemble and clash with rival activists or security forces.
