Tug boat operator suspends lockout plans at 17 ports across Australia as of Nov. 18. Shipping operations normal.

Warning

Event

Tugboat operator Svitzer has suspended plans to indefinitely block nearly 600 striking employees from accessing all 17 major ports in five states beginning Nov. 18 due to orders by Australian authorities. The Australia’s Fair Work Commission (FMC) also barred the company from initiating any lock outs for six months.

Additional protests and labor strikes over ongoing negotiations between Svitzer and its employees are possible in the coming days. Striking participants may hold gatherings outside ports and Svitzer company offices. Other popular gathering venues include public squares and major traffic intersections. Security deployment and localized traffic disruptions are possible near rally sites. Supply chain disruptions are possible in the event of prolonged industrial action.

Advice

Confirm delivery and shipping schedules. Seek alternative shipping methods for time-sensitive consignments if necessary. Avoid any demonstrations as a standard security precaution. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
