Rail disruptions are occurring on the Melbourne-Adelaide rail corridor as of Nov. 14 after a freight train derailed. Authorities stated that the incident occurred at around 05:30 between Inverleigh and Gheringhap in Victoria, resulting in a pileup of approximately 20 containers. There were no injuries associated with the accident or hazardous materials onboard.

Authorities have halted all services on the Melbourne-Adelaide rail corridor until further notice. While officials have yet to announce when services will resume, the number of containers involved and reported damage to the rail track could prolong disruptions for several days. Increased security and localized traffic disruptions are likely near the incident site as crews work to clear the track.

The incident site is approximately 20 km (12.4 miles) west of Geelong, Victoria.
