Philippines: Flights suspended at Laoag International Airport (LAO), Ilocos Norte Province, Oct. 26-27 following major earthquake

Flights suspended at Laoag International Airport (LAO), Ilocos Norte Province, Philippines, Oct. 26-27 following major earthquake.

Critical

Event

Authorities have suspended flight operations at Laoag International Airport (LAO) in Ilocos Norte Province Oct. 26-27. Officials closed the runway at the facility following a magnitude-6.4 earthquake in Luzon.

The airport closure could extend beyond Oct. 27 if damage assessments and repair works are not completed as scheduled. Lingering disruptions are possible once the airport resumes operations and officials work to clear a backlog of flights.

Advice

Confirm flights if planning travel or route air freight through LAO through at least Oct. 27. Do not check out accommodations until verifying onward travel. Consider using alternative regional airports and ferry services for time-sensitive travel to or from Cebu.
