Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) party to stage protest march from Lahore's Liberty Chowk toward Islamabad in Pakistan from 11:00 Oct. 28.

Warning

Event

The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) party will stage a protest march from Lahore's Liberty Chowk toward Islamabad via GT Road from 11:00 Oct. 28 as a part of its Haqeeqi Azadi movement. The event will likely draw thousands of participants. Organizers may hold rallies amid the procession, especially near prominent public squares, press clubs, government buildings, and roadways. The march route and rally sites could change with little-to-no notice if local officials move to prevent activists from assembling.

Authorities have already deployed at least 6,000 security personnel in Islamabad ahead of the planned demonstration. Officials will almost certainly monitor the march and may attempt to disperse the gathering if it is especially disruptive. Clashes between activists and police, as well as counterdemonstrators, are possible. Localized transport disruptions are likely near sites where organizers gather during the march. Localized business disruptions may also occur.

Advice

Avoid any PTI-related gatherings due to possible clashes. If violence erupts nearby, immediately depart the area and seek shelter at a secure, nongovernmental building. Allow additional travel time near rallies. Heed all official security and transport advisories.
