Further protests are likely in Conakry July 8, amid the trial of arrested opposition leaders. Three leaders of the opposition Front National pour la Defense de la Constitution (FNDC) party were arrested July 5, prompting unrest in the capital July 5-7, during which 17 police officers were injured. Supporters will likely gather in front of the Tribunal de Premiere Instance de Dixinn, where the trial will occur.

A heightened security presence is likely near the Courthouse and across Conakry in the near term. Business and transportation disruptions are likely should protests materialize. Clashes between protesters and security forces are likely. Further demonstrations are likely until the opposition leaders are released.
