Papua New Guinea: Port Moresby to host HRH Princess Anne April 11-13

HRH Princess Anne to visit Port Morseby, Papua New Guinea, April 11-13. Increased security, localized transport disruptions likely.

Informational

Event

Papua New Guinea will host Her Royal Highness Princess Anne from the UK April 11-13 in Port Moresby. The Princess Royal will arrive at Port Moresby International Airport (POM) the afternoon of April 11 before attending meetings at Government House and the Airways Hotel. The princess will visit various locations in the capital April 12, including Caritas Technical Secondary School, Port Moresby General Hospital, St. John Ambulance Headquarters, and APEC Haus.

Although demonstrations are unlikely, small gatherings over various issues cannot be ruled out in the capital during the royal visit. If any rallies occur, officers will likely move to disperse protesters quickly.

Increased security is highly likely near sites hosting official events on the royal's itinerary. Tight security is almost certain near POM as the Princess Royal arrives and departs the city. Officers could temporarily block roads near event sites as a precaution and other areas of the city to facilitate the princess's motorcade. Localized transport disruptions are likely near events.

Advice

If operating in Port Moresby, consider avoiding event venues if not attending. Allow additional time for transport through April 13. Follow all instructions from security personnel.
