Saudi Arabia: Authorities ease certain COVID-19-related international travel restrictions as of March 24 /update 19

Event

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have eased certain COVID-19-related international travel restrictions. As of March 24, individuals traveling to Saudi Arabia are no longer required to provide their vaccination status for entry into the country. COVID-19-related entry requirements are the same for all travelers to Saudi Arabia, irrespective of vaccination status.

Domestic Measures
The Saudi Ministry of Interior lifted most COVID-19-related domestic measures effective March 5; however, some limited domestic controls remain in place. Individuals ages 16 and older who received their second COVID-19 vaccine dose at least three months ago must receive a booster shot of an approved COVID-19 vaccine to enter public places. Individuals must present their health status via the Tawakkalna mobile application to access public events, activities, and indoor spaces, including public transport, domestic flights, and various facilities. Some establishments may require individuals to adhere to enhanced sanitation measures, including sanitizing hands and taking a temperature check, to enter. Wearing a facemask is required in enclosed public places. Individuals must have received at least two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine to board domestic flights.

International Travel Restrictions
All travelers, except for Saudi citizens and certain exempted individuals, must complete a Registration Immunization Information Form (i.e., arrival registration) before departing for Saudi Arabia. To access the form via the Muqeem website, click here.

Additionally, all arriving travelers must complete a health disclaimer form and submit it to authorities upon arrival. To view the form, click here.

All incoming travelers must also download and register their information on the Tawakkalna mobile application within eight hours of arrival. Arriving travelers must have medical insurance covering COVID-19 treatment costs; Saudi citizens and residents and citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are exempt from this requirement.

Saudi citizens departing the country must have received a booster shot of an approved COVID-19 vaccine if three months or more have elapsed since receiving a final dose of their primary series. This measure does not apply to people under the age of 16 or those considered exempt on the Tawakkalna mobile application.
