US: Authorities deploy additional security in Los Angeles, California, through Feb. 14 due to the Super Bowl

Authorities have boosted security in Los Angeles, California, through at least Feb. 14 as part of the preparations for the Super Bowl football championship game. The Super Bowl will be played at SoFi Stadium in the city of Inglewood, part of Los Angeles County, starting at 15:30 PST Feb. 13.

Several federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies will provide security, particularly inside and around event venues. Authorities will also impose a no-fly zone for non-approved air traffic of approximately 18 km (11 miles) around the stadium between 14:30-20:30 PST Feb. 13.

Transport disruptions are likely through at least early Feb. 14 in affected areas of Inglewood. Authorities have also announced road closures and restrictions for Super Bowl-related events near the following locations:

  • Northbound lanes of Prairie Avenue: From Century Boulevard to Arbor Vitae Street, between 01:00 Feb. 13-02:00 Feb. 14

  • Century Boulevard: From Yukon Avenue to Airport Boulevard, between 07:00 Feb. 13-02:00 Feb. 14

  • 98th Street: From Bellanca Avenue to East of Flying Food Group, between 07:00 Feb. 13-02:00 Feb. 14

  • Kareem Court: From Manchester Avenue to Pincay Drive, between 10:00 Feb. 13-01:00 Feb. 14

  • Manchester Avenue: From Prairie Avenue to Crenshaw Boulevard, between 16:00 Feb. 13-02:00 Feb. 14

  • Pincay Drive: From Prairie Avenue to Kareen Court, between 12:01 Feb. 13-02:00 Feb. 14

  • Northbound lanes of Prairie Avenue: From West 106th Street to Century Boulevard, between 16:00 Feb. 13-02:00 Feb. 14

Announced closures, detours, or other security-related restrictions may be subject to change at any time. Public transportation will likely experience a high volume of passengers and overcrowding, especially Feb. 12-14.

Protests
Several organizations may hold protests around Super Bowl events Feb. 12-13. Authorities have warned that a truckers convoy protest may occur near the game venue Feb. 13, which could impact local transport. Other demonstrations are possible but are unlikely to create significant disruptions.
