A suicide bombing occurred near the Banadir Junction in Mogadishu during the morning of July 10. The blast killed at least six people and injured nine others. A senior police official's convoy was the target of the attack. The official, Farhan Qarole, reportedly survived the blast. Al-Shabaab has claimed the attack.

An increased security presence is likely in the affected area through July 10. Localized business and transport disruptions are probable; authorities may close roads and establish checkpoints while investigating the incident.
