Warning

Event

National Youth Federation Nepal (NYFN) activists of the faction that continue to back Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli have called for a political protest in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, from 15:00 July 11. The purpose of the protest is to denounce the opposition alliance for their perceived disruptive demonstrations. Participation in the July 11 demonstration will likely be in the hundreds.

Authorities will likely deploy security personnel to the protest venue as a precaution. The protest and associated security measures will likely prompt localized transport disruptions. Activists supportive of opposition parties and factions may attempt to stage counterdemonstrations in the area; clashes between supporters of rival political factions cannot be ruled out.

Advice

Avoid the protest as a precaution and due to the threat of clashes. Plan for travel delays and detours in and around New Baneshwor during the rally. Confirm all business appointments, deliveries, transport arrangements, and road conditions in nearby areas. Heed all security and traffic advisories.
