Protests have been reported in several areas of central Kinshasa, including on Boulevard Lumumba, July 12. Taxi drivers are reportedly protesting the alleged harassment towards drivers by the Road Traffic Police (PCR). Police are monitoring the proceedings. There have been no confirmed reports of violence as of writing. Traffic disruptions have been reported in affected areas.
An increased security presence is likely to remain in place through at least the afternoon of July 12; violence is possible if protesters refuse to disperse. Further transport disruptions are also likely in the vicinity of all demonstrations.
