Three separate explosions occurred near the No.1, Ywar Thit, and Bo Chan bus stops in Insein Township, Yangon, 08:30-09:00 June 27. Another blast took place near the Mayangone Township Immigration Office at around 14:30 the same day. Security personnel conducted inspections in the area after the incident, and reports indicate that gunfire occurred; unconfirmed information suggests that soldiers fired the shots. The cause of the blasts is unclear. There were no reports of injuries or casualties from the explosions.

Context

Explosions have occurred in parts of Myanmar, including in Yangon, amid ongoing unrest following the military coup. Blasts have been occurring more frequently in recent weeks. Two explosions occurred near the Hlaing Township Immigration Office in Yangon the morning of June 25, while another explosion took place at a school in Ward 1 of Hlaingthaya Township the night of June 24. Two other blasts also occurred in Tamwe Township in the city June 21. Most incidents target security forces, government ioffices, or individuals and organizations supporting the military. Some explosions have also affected sites related to pro-democracy groups and political parties, including the National League for Democracy. Additional blasts, pro-democracy demonstrations, and violent clashes between protesters and security personnel will likely continue in the coming weeks.
