COVID-19 restrictions ongoing in Greater Melbourne, Australia, as of June 28.

Warning

Event

The Victoria government continues to impose COVID-19 restrictions in 31 local government areas in metropolitan Melbourne as of June 28. Officials allow home gatherings of up to 15 people per day. Public gatherings may occur with up to 50 people. A facemask mandate remains in effect indoors, except at home and outdoor areas when distancing of 1.5 meters (5 feet) is impossible. Officials allow Melbourne residents to travel across regional Victoria. Authorities recommend individuals 12 years old and older visiting resorts in the Victorian Alps to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours.

Authorities continue to encourage most employees to work from home unless in critical industries. However, the government permits on-site work; offices and other businesses can increase staff to 75-percent capacity or 30 people, whichever is greater. Nonessential businesses and services can function; retail shops and offices can operate at one person per four square meters (43 square feet). Only venues of less than 600 square meters (6,458 square feet) can function at one person per two square meters (21.5 feet) or 150 people, whichever is greater; such venues must employ a COVID-19 marshal. Restaurants and cafes may accommodate up to 300 patrons, though density limits and venue caps may vary for smaller venues.
