Members and supporters of the opposition Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization-Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity (VMRO-DPMNE) plan to demonstrate in central Skopje May 29 to demand the release from prison various nationalist activists convicted for their role in the April 2017 storming of Parliament. Protesters will gather near the Government Building from 18:30 before marching to the Parliament Building. Hundreds of people could participate in the demonstration.
Heightened security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out.
