A heightened security presence is likely in the Chikun Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State, through late May in response to recent acts of violence. Officials reported, May 19, that unidentified gunmen had attacked the Ungwan Gaida community and burnt down several properties. At least eight people were killed in the assault. In another incident, security forces reportedly killed three bandits and arrested two others following an attack on the Wakwodna community, also in the Chikun LGA. The exact dates of the two incidents is unclear. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
